NBC is picking up the series, "Friday Night Lights" after partnering with DirecTV.
Deadline Hollywood reporter Nikki Finke writes that Jeff Zucker, Marc Graboff and Ben Silverman had been brainstorming for an alternate way to keep the critically acclaimed but low-rated "Friday Night Lights" alive for a 3rd season "in a way that would still make financial sense."
Enter DirecTV, owned by John Malone's Liberty Media, and according to Finke, "is distinguishing DirecTV from its rivals on a content as well as price basis."
NBC aired the last completed episode of Friday Night Lights on February 8th, but until now there's been no word on the fate of the seven remaining episodes that have been written but not produced.
Finke noted the fans were aggressive in contacting the show executives to keep the series going. [x]
Wohooo! This made my fucking birthday! For a minute there I thought I was going to have another Veronica Mars situation; loosing an excellent, critically acclaimed TV show because of low ratings. *sighs relief* That is not the case though. Not the case at all. FNL is here to stay. I wonder what's going to happen with the remaining seven episodes of THIS season? Anyhow, let's celebrate FNL fans! We got our season 3!
