Beyonce Premieres "Diva" & "Halo" Videos

Late last night, iTunes posted the videos for "Diva" and "Halo," to much pandemonium amongst fans, bloggers and message boards. Sony BMG is deleting any and every video uploaded to Youtube or Dailymotion, so good luck trying to find a working link. The videos are only available on iTunes, which was a smart marketing strategy given that both songs are now on the top 10 iTunes video chart.

Diva, directed by Melina ("Upgrade U") is probably one of Beyonce's best videos to date. The black & white compliments the gritty theme she was going for. The dance sequences are the best part of the video; it's nowhere near as complex as Single Ladies but it serves its purpose and captures the feel of the song. The swagger, the fashion (impeccable) and the Crazy In Love reference at the end all make this one of Beyonce's most intriguing videos to date. She stepped her game up with this one. She has yet to disappoint me with this era. This song is already blowing up at radio, trust me when I say this will be a huge hit for her.

Halo, directed by Philip Andelman (Ginuwine, Lenny Kravitz), is a beautiful video which features Michael Ealy ("Barbershop") as her love interest. The video is reminiscent of Flaws & All in that it's very simplistic; no real concept, no real direction, just two lovers showcasing their affection towards each other. Considering how great of a song Halo is and the potential it has to become a huge hit, I can't help but feel a little underwhelmed with the video. I expected something a bit more... epic. I would've gave it a story, some narrative even (a la If I Were A Boy), shoot I would've probably thrown a curveball at the end of the video (having her husband pass away or something of that nature). Anyhow, underwhelmed and all, the video is nonetheless beautiful and very romantic. Damn, Beyonce and Michael Ealy would have some gorgeous kids, don't you think?

In other Beyonce news, Single Ladies is the #1 song in the country again (3 weeks) and it's climbed to #1 on iTunes as well. Her album, I Am Sasha...Fierce, saw a 22% increase in sales this week selling over 200,000 copies, bringing its total to 1,248,000 albums sold to date.

The official HQ trailer for Beyonce's upcoming thriller movie Obsessed is now available. Check it out!
