Upcoming Cable TV Series

The Borgias on Showtime
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s40diPIX-cU

Man, cable TV is where it's at. With the exception of few shows (Fringe, The Good Wife), most of the stuff I watch is on cable. The quality of shows like The Walking Dead, Boardwalk Empire and Dexter remains to be seen on broadcast networks. And if you think the new crop of cable dramas that premiered this year were anything to brag about, wait until you see what channels like Showtime, HBO, AMC and TNT have up their sleeves!

P!nk's "Raise Your Glass" Video

[vodpod id=Video.4816731&w=425&h=350&fv=%26rel%3D0%26border%3D0%26]

Raise Your Glass has broken a lot of airplay records in the past two weeks, and judging by the great new video P!nk just released for it, I wouldn't be surprised if it broke a few more. While the visual is typical P!nk (as is the song), it sounds fresh and is insanely catchy to boot. The video was directed by her long time collaborator Dave Meyers and the song was produced by Max Martin. I'm completely in love with the song and video. It's actually my alarm clock's wake up ringer. Yeah.

Pink's great hits album will be available on November 16th. Look out for the second single, F*cking Perfect; it's f*cking great.

"Friday Night Lights" Season 5 Trailer

I cannot wait for this show to return. I can't believe this is the final season. I'm confident the writers will find a way to effectively wrap up what has become one of my favorite TV shows of all time. There, I said it.

Friday Night Lights starts its final season on October 27th.

Rihanna's "Who's That Chick" Videos

Some of you might remember the Rihanna video that leaked a few weeks ago by the name of Who's That Chick. The song and video were said to be a part of an upcoming Doritos campaign that Rihanna was working on. Well, the final versions of the video has leaked; there's a day version, as well as a night one. The videos were directed by Jonas Akerlund (Lady Gaga, Pink) and the song will be featured as a bonus track on her upcoming album Loud.

Night Version

Day Version

In other Rihanna news, rumor has it that she's currently in the studio with Eminem (recording the followup to their smash hit single, Love The Way You Lie) and Katy Perry, recording new songs that might possibly be included in her upcoming album.

Joint of the Moment

I can't stop playing this song (or video, for that matter). Ugh, story of my life. Are you guys enjoying Trey Songz's new album?

It's about to be 4 AM, I think it's about time I take it down. Good night folks. <3

Talking about album covers...

While her skills as an MC are questionable, I got to give props where props are due: this album cover is fire! She really went in on her whole barbie concept. Somewhere in Brooklyn, Lil Kim is pissed. But what I really want to know is what photographer shot this cover.

Cute album cover and crazy theatrics aside, Nicki still has a long way to go before she can actually be compared to veterans like Eve and Kim. I don't know if her album is going to be any good (judging by the extremely lackluster Black Eyed Peas inspired singles, blah) but if there's one thing I can count on Nicki Minaj for is entertainment.

In other Nicki news, have you guys seen the behind the scenes footage of her upcoming video, Right Thru Me?

Pink Friday hits stores November 23rd.

Mya's New SMASH Hit "My Birthday"

She's going to break records with this one! The Queen M is back!

Kanye West's New Album Cover

I guess it fits the title of his album. I don't think Walmart will be too happy with it, however. Hopefully the music isn't as transparent as the album cover. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy hits stores November 22nd.

Behind the Scenes: "The Walking Dead"

This has becoming my most anticipated event of the year. Me being the horror junkie that I am + AMC's superb history of making brilliant TV shows = The Walking Dead is MUST SEE TV. I can't freakin' wait! Oh and Prison Break fans, rejoice, Sarah Wayne Callies is starring in this new horror drama! Halloween can't come soon enough.

Rihanna's "Only Girl" Video

The wait is finally over, Rihanna has finally released the video for her top three smash hit single, Only Girl (In the World). The video, which was directed by her go-to-man Anthony Mandler, is a departure from the gothic/dark themes of the Rated R videos, and sees Rihanna in a much happier and colorful(no pun intended) stage of her life. The song itself: generic; Rihanna has had better songs as album "fillers" than this single. The video; while not her best, serves its purpose. The problem that artists like Rihanna and Lady Gaga (who put an extraordinary amount of effort into their image and videos) face sometimes is that the minute one of their images or videos isn't up to par (or for lack of a better term, generic), that piece of work isn't viewed as "interesting" or "brilliant," whereas if it were any other artist, the public would be a bit more embracing.

Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy the song a lot and the video is cute but it is nowhere near her best effort(s), and coming from the excellent album that was Rated R, I'm a tad bit worried. But I understand what her and her record company were trying to do by releasing the most radio friendly song as the first single (and it worked). Rated R didn't have a smash hit till Rude Boy. They aren't trying to make that mistake again. And considering the number of videos Rihanna is planning to shoot for this new album (Loud), I am positive that Only Girl is to this album what Wait Your Turn was for Rated R. You remember what video I'm talking about, right?

Loud hits stores on November 16th.

Next on "The Vampire Diaries"

The Vampire Diaries is quickly turning into must-see TV for me. Since premiering last year at the peak of the vampire craze, the show has managed to set itself apart from the countless vampire-themed TV shows and movies and has created its own little niche. The show is picking up pace in its second season, and while the next episode isn't scheduled to air until October 21st, here is a preview of the next two episodes which will definitely have you anticipating its return that much more.

Raz-B Goes Off on Marques Houston

I feel bad for this guy. I mean, didn't he reveal to the world that Chris Stokes (B2K manager) had molested him while he was in the group only to then recant his story? I don't know what's going on with Raz, but I really hope he resolves all the issues (personal and external) he has going on, as it's becoming more and more evident that the guy has gone through some sort of mental (and according to him, physical) abuse. And if all these claims are indeed true, then I hope justice is served and Chris Stokes (and any of the others who abused him) get what they deserve. My heart goes out to him.

Ciara's "Gimme Dat" Video

Finally. The girl has delivered! At first I thought I was getting ready to see a sequel to Beyonce's Diva video (same director, Melina), but similar settings aside, as the video progressed I quickly dismissed that thought. We all know Ciara can dance her ass off, but ole' girl really broke it down in this video. Asides from the couple of technical and editing errors (for lack of a better term) that I saw in the video (looking like Ciara was cut and pasted on the screen in certain parts, and some of the bland effects seen throughout the video among other things), this is a step in the right direction for Ciara. I just hope that folks haven't grown tired of what is, in essence, the same formula she's been using since she first came onto the scene.

RichGirl's "Swagger" Video

If Kelly Rowland, Nicole S. (it's been how many years and I still don't know her last name), Jennifer Lopez and Christina Milian (scratch that, Ciara) made a girl group, then ladies and gentlemen, we'd have RichGirl. Okay, I'm kidding, but I can't help the resemblance some of the group members have with the former (vocally, physically..) bunch. All jokes aside, I'm loving this song and video; a bit simple and generic, not surprisingly, but it's cute. I've been following this group since they debuted their He Ain't With Me Now single and video last year.

Not only can the girls sing (like, s i n g), they are drop dead gorgeous and can drop it down with the best of 'em. With a bit of tuning up and the right team and songs behind them, they can really blow up. They are The Pussycat Dolls with actual talent. Here's to hoping they branch out from the generic and dated records and actually focus their energies on bringing some fresh heat to the music industry. Besides, if they plan on making it big as a girl group, they're going to have to.

P!nk's "Raise Your Glass"

Listen to the first single off of P!nk's upcoming greatest hits album here.

The song, which was produced by Max Martin, will be going for adds later this month. The video is being directed by Dave Meyers (who's done 95% of her superb videos) and should be out in a few weeks.

The song is vintage P!nk at her best: fun, loud, obnoxious and incredibly catchy. I can see this becoming a huge hit a la So What if she plays her cards right (not that she would want to).

Below is the greatest hits album cover:

I love it. :)

Shakira's "Loca" Video

Shakira has finally released the video for her new single Loca, which is her interpretation of the Dominican Merengue singer, El Cata's Loca Con Su Tiguere, which you can listen to here. The video is cute, Shakira looks great and the song (me being a fan of the original) sounds fresh. Kudos! Her new album, Sale El Sol, comes out October 19th.

Rihanna's "Loud" Album Cover

I love it. I love how different (yet still not too far of a departure) this new era and album are shaping up to be. The dark undertones from her Rated R album are still there, but the message and sound is a bit more uppity and fun this time around. From the loud (no pun intended) colors (single and album covers, behind the scene video pictures, her hair) to her less depressing music, Rihanna is taking her fans in a new direction this time around and that is exactly what I like about her; she's not afraid to switch it up. And ever since her smash hit Umbrella, whether she's bad, crying, explicit or loud, she looks and sounds hella good. Loud will be in stores on November 16th.

"Catfish" Trailer

Is this supposed to be the Paranormal Activity of 2010? Either way, I'm intrigued. Hopefully it isn't as big of a disappointment as the former was.

Kelly Rowland's "Rose Colored Glasses" and "Forever and a Day" Videos

Well, what do we have here? Kelly Rowland recently premiered two new videos, both which will serve as singles off her upcoming tentatively titled One Woman Show album. The first, Forever and a Day, dives deeper into the diva's new found love for dance music. Following in the steps of her past two dance hits When Love Takes Over and Commander, this new single (which for now will only be released overseas) should be a huge hit for her. The video, while not all that deep, serves its purpose and Ms. Rowland looks gorgeous. She did what she could with her budget and at the end of the day, the song is hot.

And then we have Rose Colored Glasses. Don't get me wrong, the song has grown on me, it really has. But this slow burner is not what Kelly Rowland needs right now to finally launch her from B-list status to the ranks of her rivals. I'm all for variety but not when it's noticeably lackluster. I don't think I would've chosen this song as an album cut let alone as a lead single to launch a new album. To add insult to injury, the video doesn't do anything for the song, although again, I have to say that Kelly Rowland looks stunning. But in this case the song isn't strong enough to stand on its own and neither is the video.

.. which is why I understand why her album has now been delayed until 2011. Kelly Rowland knows that this is her last chance to prove herself as a solo artist. The girl definitely has the chops and the looks, she's just lacking on the material. How she can work with the biggest producers and end up with these weak tracks is beyond me. I suggest ole' girl links up with Solange Knowles (who's written some of Kelly's best songs), call up some of the producers that worked with you on some of the Destiny's Child albums (9th Wonder I see you) and find a sound and stick with it. What good is potential if it is never fully developed? Come on girl, I know you can do it. In the meantime, check out some of her best tracks and performances.

"The Walking Dead" Trailer

The Walking Dead isn't an upcoming zombie movie; nope. It's actually AMC's upcoming zombie TV series. The network that brought you the critically acclaimed (and Emmy favorites) Mad Men and Breaking Bad is going to be premiering its next big series this Halloween! As if my obsession with vampire shows wasn't enough (True Blood, Being Human, The Vampire Diaries, Moonlight, Buffy and etc.), The Walking Dead is looking like it's going to quickly become one of my favorites. Check out the trailer!

"No Ordinary Family" Trailer

The show's cast is made up of actors from some of my favorite shows of all time (Dexter, The Shield) and the plot seems really interesting (a better acted Heroes without all the extra bullshit with a sprinkle of The Incredibles). Here's to hoping it's a ratings success and that ABC doesn't cancel it. The show premieres on September 28th!

Lady Gaga Speaks Out Against "Don't Ask, Don't Tell"

Lady Gaga made an appearance at the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" rally in Portland, Maine earlier today. The singer brought attention to tomorrow's vote in the Senate over the repeal of DADT laws.

"I'm here because don't ask don't tell is wrong. It's injust," she added. "I'm here today because I would like to propose a new law. A law that sends home the soldier that has the problem. Our new law is called, 'If you don't like it, go home.'"

I must admit that Gaga's speech was incredibly moving and powerful and contrary to what many people are assuming, I do feel that she is sincere in her fight towards gay rights. This does not read as a publicity stunt to me, not in the least bit. I applaud this woman for taking a stand against inequality when the majority of her fellow rivals wouldn't even dare tackle a political issue, much less one that involves the rights of gays. She isn't afraid to voice her opinions and alienate some fans along the way; the woman stands up and fights for what she believes in, and is very knowledgeable at that.

Here's to DADT being repealed. Here's to more artists and public figures actually giving a fuck about something other than Billboard positions and album sales. Here's to a change. It's about damn time.

Kelly Rowland Talking About Her New Single "Rose Colored Glasses"

The song, which was produced by Dr. Luke (California Gurls), is the first single off Kelly Rowland's upcoming album, One Woman Show. I wasn't a big fan of the song when I first heard it a few weeks ago, but it has slowly grown on me, partially because I can now relate to it. Ms. Rowland has already shot a video for the single, which should be premiering any day now.

Jazmine Sullivan's "Holding You Down" Video

This is the first single off her upcoming sophomore album, Love Me Back, which hits stores October 5th.

Beyonce's "Why Don't You Love Me" Video

Whoa, where did this come from? So much for a vacation, apparently Beyonce has been hard at work these past few weeks working on some new material. Rumor has it that this video will appear in an upcoming video anthology, though I really doubt it; I think there's a greater possibility for this to be featured in the upcoming tour DVD which is going to be released later this summer.

Anyhow, Melina and Beyonce herself, directed the video, and for once I can say I'm extremely pleased and impressed. For one, I love the song. It's very Hadley Street Dreams-ish, which is understandable since it was written by Solange. The video is extremely interesting with its vivid imagery and Beyonce's depiction of a woman scorned. The costumate changes, 60's inspired setting and excellent use of desaturation and grain all worked together well and made this video look like a well thoughtout and produced piece of work. But what intrigues me the most about this piece is that it reminds me of the sound (and image) that Beyonce was initially going for prior to the release of her debut album, Dangerously in Love.

Remember, when Fever was among one of the album cuts and Work it Out was supposed to be this huge hit but it flopped? I always wonder what would've been of Beyonce had she stuck with her initial "R&B soul" route. We saw glimpses of it on the Cadillac Records soundtrack, which in my opinion, was better than most of the songs on I Am... Sasha Fierce. I've always preferred her more old-school influenced R&B records (like Resentment and Gift From Virgo, for example), as oppose to her signature modernized synth-heavy productions. Maybe her next project will see Beyonce return to her original path, to her original sound, to what she apparently wanted to do from the beginning but never did because it just never caught on with the public. In the meantime, enjoy what I think is one of Beyonce's best videos in recent memory.

P.S. Thank you Gaga for inspiring Bee. You're just what she needed. ;)

Video Vixen Gloria Velez Goes in on Nicki Minaj

Damn, ole girl went in on Nicki. And you know something, she does have a point, it is a gimmick and yes Nicki Minaj's talent is questionable. But what does that say about you, who's been in the industry for over ten years trying to become a rapper and yet nobody knows who the hell you are? Mhm.

Eye Candy: Matt Acton

Check out 21-year-old body builder Matt Acton. I stumbled across his images and thought I should share. Oh and he's from NY. ;)

Ciara's "Ride" Video

Well, apparently it's Ciara week! The video for her new single Ride is finally out and ladies and gentlemen I think she may finally have a hit in her hands. While the video itself is nowhere near as visually appealing as some of her previous efforts (Love, Sex, Magic, Promise, and Go Girl to name a few), what we do see is Ciara returning back to her dance roots and doing what it was that made her a star in the first place. The dancing in the video is impressive (which is quite a feat since she does tend to get quite repetitive video after video) and the song itself is an unexpected banger, a bit reminiscent to her single Oh, which was also a Ludacris collaboration. And though the video won't win any creativity awards or garner any critical acclaim, Ciara has managed to take a simple approach and turn it into an effective, and solid effort.

Ciara "Basic Instinct" Video

Say what you will, but this lil' bootleg video has re-aroused my interest in Ciara. $100 budget and all, it's different and I get what she was trying to do with it, surprisingly so. Though I doubt this is the her new single (more like a buzz track), I'm feeling it. I'm also enjoying her new collaboration, Ride, with Ludacris, which will be featured in her upcoming album. The girl knows and admits that she fell off (with her music, sound, style, dancing and anything else you can think of) and she's ready and prepared to come back hard this time around. But then again, that was supposed to happen last time around (with Fantasy Ride) and look at how that turned out. But if the rumors are true and she is indeed going back to her roots has learned from her missteps, Ciara may once again become the R&B artist we all fell in love with back in 2003.

"How I Got Robbed on 42nd Street"

"Alan Wake" Gameplay Video

Easily my most anticipated game of the year (sorry Halo: Reach, Max Payne 3 and Splinter Cell: Conviction); this psychological thriller (there aren't too many video games that can be described as such) has been in production for about six years and has had more delays than any game in recent memory. The Xbox 360 exclusive will finally be available on May 18th. Here's to hoping the long wait has been worth it.

Introducing Maluca Mala

Meet my favorite new artist of 2010. This fiery Dominicana goes by the name of Maluca (real name Natalie Yepez) and was born and raised in Washington Heights. The intriguing mix of Merengue and Techno, alongside her distinctive fashion sense and incredibly catchy Spanglish lyrics, makes for a perfect combination and intense production which can only be described as genius. The first single, El Tigeraso, is an infectious summer anthem in the making and the video serves as a perfect introduction into the mind and world of the Dominican beauty. I can already picture this becoming a smash hit, not only here in NYC but in the Dominican Republic as well. Comparisons to M.I.A. are inevitable (as both have worked with DJ Diplo) but la Maluca Mala comfortably stands in her own little niche and boy, oh boy, is she ready to take off! Wepa! Una sabrosura!

Check out this interview she did with HolaMun2.

Vivian Green's "Beautiful" Video

She's back! I have been anticipating some new material for a few years already and it is! I was a huge fan of both of her previous albums (Emotional Rollercoaster is still in heavy rotation in my house) and always wondered why she isn't as popular as she should be. Anyhow, her new album is available here. I'm loving the new single and video. I haven't listened to her new album yet, but if it's anything like her other two, you guys are in for a treat!

I leave you with what I consider to be a classic R&B jam, Emotional Rollercoaster.

Nicki Minaj's "Massive Attack" Video

What the hell is this mess, a tribute to Lil Kim and Lady Gaga? Mhm, I do like the imagery though; this would've worked a lot better as a photo shoot. But hey, who knows, Nicki Minaj's weird antics are all the excitement right now, so maybe this tribute video and horrible song will work fine for her. I wonder if ole girl is going to be able to have a hit all by herself. Massive Attack is the first single off her upcoming debut album, which could have the potential to make Ms. Minaj the reigning Hip Hop Queen. But from the looks and sound of it of her first single, I think she was better off sticking with her mixtapes.

Trey Songz Poses For "Vibe" Magazine (April/May '10)

R&B star Trey Songz is on the steamy new cover of the online issue of Vibe magazine, wearing nothing but a pair of undies. The man has quickly become a stable in the music industry with his countless hits, collaborations, good looks and sexual videos and is showing no signs of stopping anytime soon. I leave you with the video for his latest single, Neighbors Know My Name.

Splinter Cell: Conviction Demo

A lot of you may have seen this already as its been online for a week or two, but many of you haven't. Above is a 15 minute demo of the upcoming Xbox 360 exclusive Splinter Cell: Conviction game, which will be released on April 15th. The demo has been receiving a lot of criticism due to the game's obvious departure from its original style and pacing but not much else can be said until the game is officially released and played in its entirety. As a fan of the series (which is reminiscent of the Metal Gear Solid series, though nowhere near as deep and plot-driven), I am excited and eager to see what Ubisoft has done with the fifth installment of the popular franchise. Hopefully they have succeeded in making a game that can keep up with the high quality of its predecessors.

Are You Ready for Bionic?

I am! The first single (which you can preview here), Not Myself Tonight, which was produced by Polow Da Don, will premiere later today. Even though I was left extremely disappointed with her last effort, Back to Basics, I'm expecting nothing but the best from this woman, considering the amazing work she has created before. The list of collaborators and producers for her upcoming album is quite intriguing to say the least, taking yet another risk by changing her sound ("futuristic") and image once again, hopefully this time, for the better. Time will soon tell whether or not she will deliver, or if she will fall victim to her own hype.

EDIT: LISTEN TO HER NEW SINGLE HERE!

I'm loving this! Her vocals are on point (when aren't they) and she really did her thing with this one. When she said her new sound was going to be futuristic, I quickly thought of her contemporaries (Lady Gaga and even Rihanna) and was a little worried about the end result. But ole girl has shaped her own little lane with this one. The production is on point and boy oh boy are the clubs going to eat this one up! Here's to hoping that the video (and rest of the album) are good. Job well done! X-tina is back!

MTV's "Fresh Meat 2" Trailer

I love this show and I'm not ashamed to admit that. Right next to the Bad Girl's Club, this is one of my guiltiest of all guilty pleasures. And though the cast does get repetitive after a while, what would these challenges be without them? MTV's Fresh Meat 2 premieres on April 7th.

Nicki Minaj Behind The Scenes "Right On" Magazine Shoot

Though I still doubt her lyrical abilities, there is no denying that Nicki Minaj is becoming something sort of an anomaly in the rap game, and I mean that in a good way. She has managed to capture the attention of the masses without having yet proven her talent as an artist, but rather with her faux persona. And that, my friends, is quite the task. Yea, it doesn't hurt that she's good looking and that she has Lil Wayne by her side, but that didn't seem to help Trina all that much. While I don't see the innovation others are claiming (the barbie image is played out and has been done to death by the likes of Lil Kim and even Gwen Stefani), people are buying into the product that is Nicki Minaj, and it will be interesting to see if they also buy into Nicki Minaj, the rapper. Only time will tell.

'Un Prophete'

Have you seen this movie? I have been hearing nothing but stellar reviews about the French film. People are comparing it to The Godfather and are hailing the protagonist (Tahar Rahim) as the next Al Pacino. I have not seen an excellent film in a while, so I hope this one lives up to the hype.

Sneak Peak of "Bad Girl's Club" Next Episode

Black Eyed Pea's "Imma Be Rocking That Body" Video

Directed by Rich Lee, the Black Eyed Pea's new music video (or should I say mini-movie), which pays homage to the Transformers series/movies, is set in the future (as is the entire album) and features the group members roaming around desserts and cities blasting people with their energy guns, all the while robots break it down Michael Jackson style in the background. Sounds like your cup of tea?

I have grown to love Imma Be. It's in part My Humps deux (repetition and all) and in part another quality successor to all their previous hits. I still don't have that love for Rocking That Body, but as with all of the Black Eyed Peas songs, that will come in due time. The video is... alright. It's obviously a big budget piece of work, I just felt like they could have done a lot more with their 10 minutes (and budget)than this. Nonetheless, like all their previous singles, this will be a smash hit. Smash.

Flashback: Super Mario Bros 2

Do you remember this game?! Ah, the memories. :(

I'm seriously debating on whether to buy myself an Xbox 360 or a Wii. The thought of playing Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Bros Wii is making my mouth salivate.

Rihanna's "Rude Boy" Video

I'm in love with this woman. Her videos, her album, her single choices, she has not disappointed me YET with this era. Melina did an excellent job as director with this video. The song is catchy and the video is extremely vivid and colorful, very M.I.A.ish. I hope this song blows up for her, I know her & her record label have been waiting for that one big hit from this era; this might just be it! Kudos to Rihanna for stepping it up once again. Excellent video, job well done.

John Mayer is a Douche

So there's this controversy going on right now with America's favorite douche bag, John Mayer, regarding a comment he made on the latest issue of Playboy Magazine. Apparently the man isn't an intelligent as his music would lead you to believe or maybe he really just doesn't care. Unfortunately for him, we do. Check out what he had to say about his dick, pornography, black women & sexing them.

PLAYBOY: What’s your point about porn and relationships?

MAYER: Internet pornography has absolutely changed my generation’s expectations. How could you be constantly synthesizing an orgasm based on dozens of shots? You’re looking for the one photo out of 100 you swear is going to be the one you finish to, and you still don’t finish. Twenty seconds ago you thought that photo was the hottest thing you ever saw, but you throw it back and continue your shot hunt and continue to make yourself late for work. How does that not affect the psychology of having a relationship with somebody? It’s got to.

PLAYBOY: Masturbation for you is as good as sex?

MAYER: Absolutely, because during sex, I’m just going to run a filmstrip. I’m still masturbating. That’s what you do when you’re 30, 31, 32. This is my problem now: Rather than meet somebody new, I would rather go home and replay the amazing experiences I’ve already had.

PLAYBOY: If you didn’t know you, would you think you’re a douche bag?

MAYER: It depends on what I picked up. My two biggest hits are “Your Body Is a Wonderland” and “Daughters.” If you think those songs are pandering, then you’ll think I’m a douche bag. It’s like I come on very strong. I am a very…I’m just very. V-E-R-Y. And if you can’t handle very, then I’m a douche bag. But I think the world needs a little very. That’s why black people love me.

PLAYBOY: Because you’re very?

MAYER: Someone asked me the other day, “What does it feel like now to have a hood pass?” And by the way, it’s sort of a contradiction in terms, because if you really had a hood pass, you could call it a nigger pass. Why are you pulling a punch and calling it a hood pass if you really have a hood pass? But I said, “I can’t really have a hood pass. I’ve never walked into a restaurant, asked for a table and been told, ‘We’re full.’"

PLAYBOY: Do black women throw themselves at you?

MAYER: I don’t think I open myself to it. My dick is sort of like a white supremacist. I’ve got a Benetton heart and a fuckin’ David Duke cock. I’m going to start dating separately from my dick.

PLAYBOY: Let’s put some names out there. Let’s get specific.

MAYER: I always thought Holly Robinson Peete was gorgeous. Every white dude loved Hilary from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. And Kerry Washington. She’s superhot, and she’s also white-girl crazy. Kerry Washington would break your heart like a white girl. Just all of a sudden she’d be like, “Yeah, I sucked his dick. Whatever.” And you’d be like, “What? We weren’t talking about that.” That’s what “Heartbreak Warfare” is all about, when a girl uses jealousy as a tactic.

You can read the entire interview here.

First of all, I'm not mad at him for not being sexually attracted to black women, different strokes for different folks. But considering his level of success and the magazine that this interview was done by, he should've been more cautious with his wording on certain things, especially since everything he says (or Playboy publishes) will reach the masses.

If you take a look back in history, how many times have we heard a celebrity (or whoever the hell) say:

"I didn't mean to offend anybody. I didn't mean it like that! I apologize, I should have worded it differently."

.. too many to count. And maybe they did mean to offend somebody. Maybe they really meant what they said. But if you're going to end up apologizing to the masses, watch what the hell comes out your mouth in the first place. There are so many non-offensive metaphors he could have used other than white supremacist to compare his dick and its dislike for black women. A simple "I'm not sexually attracted to black women," would have sufficed. And all this talk about nigger pass? Are you serious John Mayer? When will these celebrities realize that they need their fans and shouldn't alienate them with foolishness like this? I'm also extremely appalled by the interviewer and his choice of questions. Do black women throw themselves at you? Whoa now, what's going on? Why would black women, specifically, be throwing themselves at anybody? And that comment about Kerry? How disrespectful can you be. I mean, come on now. If he was trying to be funny, he was not. The joke is on him. Let the backlash begin. Waiting on the World to Change alright.

Alicia Keys & Beyonce Team Up For "Put It In a Love Song" Video

The girls are down in Brazil shooting a carnival-themed video for Put It In a Love Song, the third single off of Alicia Key's The Element of Freedom album. The song, while not my favorite, is a grower and considering that the stellar Try Sleeping With a Broken Heart didn't blow up like it was intended to, maybe this catchy Swiss Beats produced track will. Check out some photos from the set.
