Shakira's "She Wolf" Video

Amazing. I think this is one of the best videos of the year. The dancing in ridiculous. Beyonce, Ciara, take note. I have a feeling this song is going to be HUGE. Jake Nava did an excellent job (again) directing this fabulous video. Shakira girl, you and your videos never cease to impress me. HOT!

Aventura's "Su Veneno" Video

I got to give my fellow Dominicans some love! I've been playing this song nonstop & I think it deserves a blog post, fuck it. This is my jam! Their new album The Last has been in heavy rotation in my crib. I'm a sucker for good Spanish music. If you were to look at my music library, you'd see a lot of P!nk, some Beyonce, random R&B/Dance/Hip Hop joints and hundreds upon hundreds of Spanish songs (Bachata, Merengue, Salsa). Maybe it's because I'm Dominican, I don't know. But the point is that whenever some good music comes out, I pay attention to it; especially if it's from Aventura.

For those who don't know who Aventura are, they're a Dominican Bachata music group who've quickly become one of Latin music's premier acts. You might remember a little song called Obsession (which was sung by Frankie J) that was popular back in 2005. Well that song was originally sung and written by Aventura, years before.

They've been around since the late 90's but didn't really blow up until 2002. In the Dominican Republic, you can't go ANYWHERE without hearing an Aventura song blasting on someone's radio. I've grown up listening to them & I remember when no one outside of D.R. knew who the fuck they were. Almost 10 years later, they're this big international award winning music group, with #1's all over the world. Not bad, not bad at all.

"[Rec] 2" Teaser Trailer

Holy shit, this looks good! You know, as big of a horror movie fiend that I am, I've NEVER seen the Spanish horror film, [Rec]. Everyone who's watched it has told me it was great. When was the last time someone used the word "great" to describe a horror film? Exactly. I've yet to see the English "version," Quarantine either, but from the reviews I've read, it's got nothing on the original.

This weekend I'm going to watch 'em. I'll let you know what I think.

Channing Tatum Covers "GQ" Magazine (Aug '09)

At 18, washed out of college in West Virginia and ended up in South Beach. Worked in construction and as a perfume spritzer at Dillard’s. Walked into a modeling agency and got a job with Abercrombie. Went to Hollywood. Stayed handsome. Launched a bunch of roles—two, oddly, with the name of “Duke.” Is now being called the next big thing. Is not complaining. [Read more...]

PHOTOGRAPHY BY MARIO TESTINO

He's gorgeous. And he isn't afraid to get down & dirty. While he's not my favorite Hollywood hunk (Kellan Lutz and James Franco, I see you), he's definitely up there. I'll be picking this issue up!

Shakira's "She Wolf" Video Preview

Holy shit. This woman is going to KILL it with this video, I can already tell. Something I admire about Shakira is the fact that she PUSHES herself to try new things (unlike someone else I know & love). Since crossing into mainstream back in 2001 with Whenever, Wherever, Shakira has managed to transform herself, her videos and her sound with each new album. I have to say though that contrary to what most people would assume, some of Shakira's most innovative work is in Spanish. Her song (and video) No, has got to be one of my favorites from her:

The woman is a Goddess:

Judging by her impressive body of work, dating back to the 90's, I have no doubt in my mind that Shakira will DELIVER with this new video (and album).

Thoughts on the preview? Jake Nava ("Single Ladies") directed the clip.

Beyonce's "Sweet Dreams" Video

The video will probably be removed from Youtube in a few hours; Beyonce's record company does NOT play when it comes to her shit. Anyhow, I just got out of work (13 hour shift) and I'm exhausted, so I will review the video tomorrow. I must say though, that I enjoyed the video, cheap-looking effects & all. However, considering the hype this video had prior to its release, I'm a little underwhelmed. I don't know, I just keep waiting for Beyonce to pop out and do some classic, innovative and legendary shit, but I guess that isn't going to happen anytime soon. Whatever, I like the video. I love the song. I need to watch it again in high quality & when I'm wide awake. I'm tired as hell. Good night.

Preview of Beyonce's "Sweet Dreams" Video

Finally a color video from Beyonce! Shit, I was beginning to worry. And though I can't really judge what the final video is going to look like based on this tiny preview, I can say that I'm excited as hell for it. I'm not going to hold my breath though, you all know how I felt about her atrocious Ego video. Hopefully she delivers with this one. This has the potential to be a banger.

& in other Beyonce video news, ole girl paid tribute to Michael Jackson at the Essence Music Festival & in the ATL showing of her tour, and I must say, she gave me chills! Definitely one of the most touching and powerful performances I have ever seen from Beyonce.

Britney Spears' "Radar" Video

The video is alright, the song is mediocre, which isn't surprising as mediocre has become a ongoing theme with Britney Spears. Many fans speculated that Radar would eventually be a single considering the fact that the song is originally from Britney Spears' Blackout album and was featured as a bonus track on her current album, Circus. Whether or not it is a good single choice, I don't know. I really don't care much for this song or for the Circus album as a matter of fact. I miss the old Britney.

What do you guys think of Radar being the fourth single? I would've went with Unusual U or even Mannequin.
