"The Borgias" Premires Next Week

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lj29Py41fEE&feature=player_embedded

April 3rd (this Sunday) is right around the corner! Given Showtime's excellent (Dexter, The Tudors, Nurse Jackie, Californication and etc.) history of producing quality TV series, this upcoming historic drama should be no different. Check out this interesting review from LA Times here, as well as Entertainment Weekly's opinion of the show and its competition (Starz's Camelot and HBO's Game of Thrones, here.

Off topic, but did anyone watch the third season premiere of Nurse Jackie? I missed it.

Season 3 Trailer of "Nurse Jackie"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=6QJ70HkKBpY

Showtime is on a roll with its quality drama series. They have Dexter, Nurse Jackie, The Big C, United States of Tara, Weeds, Californication and most recently, Shameless. The trailer for the third season of Nurse Jackie looks really good. The season three premiere of Nurse Jackie will air on March 28th.

Are legal dramas the new TV trend?

"Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2GWc2WFU1I

As if having 87 police procedurals on the air wasn't enough, the creators of Criminal Minds are launching a spinoff series, Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior, which follows an entirely new profiling team and their work with the FBI in Quantico, Virginia. The series has been given a 13 episode pick-up and is scheduled to premiere on February 16th on CBS.

I don't know about this. I stopped watching the original Criminal Minds years ago (maybe I shouldn't have) and I have too many TV shows backed up my DVR to pay this any mind at the moment. But given the fact that I'm a sucker for anything suspenseful (sans the CSI series), I will tune in and check out the first few episodes.

Upcoming Cable TV Series

The Borgias on Showtime
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s40diPIX-cU

Man, cable TV is where it's at. With the exception of few shows (Fringe, The Good Wife), most of the stuff I watch is on cable. The quality of shows like The Walking Dead, Boardwalk Empire and Dexter remains to be seen on broadcast networks. And if you think the new crop of cable dramas that premiered this year were anything to brag about, wait until you see what channels like Showtime, HBO, AMC and TNT have up their sleeves!

Next on "The Vampire Diaries"

The Vampire Diaries is quickly turning into must-see TV for me. Since premiering last year at the peak of the vampire craze, the show has managed to set itself apart from the countless vampire-themed TV shows and movies and has created its own little niche. The show is picking up pace in its second season, and while the next episode isn't scheduled to air until October 21st, here is a preview of the next two episodes which will definitely have you anticipating its return that much more.

"The Walking Dead" Trailer

The Walking Dead isn't an upcoming zombie movie; nope. It's actually AMC's upcoming zombie TV series. The network that brought you the critically acclaimed (and Emmy favorites) Mad Men and Breaking Bad is going to be premiering its next big series this Halloween! As if my obsession with vampire shows wasn't enough (True Blood, Being Human, The Vampire Diaries, Moonlight, Buffy and etc.), The Walking Dead is looking like it's going to quickly become one of my favorites. Check out the trailer!

"No Ordinary Family" Trailer

The show's cast is made up of actors from some of my favorite shows of all time (Dexter, The Shield) and the plot seems really interesting (a better acted Heroes without all the extra bullshit with a sprinkle of The Incredibles). Here's to hoping it's a ratings success and that ABC doesn't cancel it. The show premieres on September 28th!

MTV's "Fresh Meat 2" Trailer

I love this show and I'm not ashamed to admit that. Right next to the Bad Girl's Club, this is one of my guiltiest of all guilty pleasures. And though the cast does get repetitive after a while, what would these challenges be without them? MTV's Fresh Meat 2 premieres on April 7th.

I remember I used to love this show! Does anyone remember the name of it?

The Real World: Cancun Trailer

This looks really good. I hate how they cast the same stereotypes over & over again each season, but who am I kidding? I'm a sucker for MTV & VH1 reality shows, I can't help myself. You'd think people would be tired of these type of shows by now (this is going to be the Real World's 22nd season), but the ratings prove otherwise. The Real World: Cancun premieres June 24th on MTV.

"Friday Night Lights" Has Been Renewed!

E! Online - NBC Seals Deal on Two More Seasons of Friday Night Lights [x]
Newsday - NBC renews ’Friday Night Lights’ through 2011 [x]
Reuters - NBC renews "Friday Night Lights" [x]

The network and DirecTV have finalized a deal for a 26-episode order (two seasons of 13 episodes each) to the series about a Texas high school football team.

Under the pact, "Friday Night Lights" will continue to premiere on DirecTV with a second window on NBC.

Praise the lord above! Yes baby, yes! [woot woot!] This is the best (TV-related) news I've heard all year. Despite its critical acclaim, everybody knows that the series was *this* close to getting canceled, due to it's low ratings. But the Gods over at NBC and DirecTV must've worked up some magic because not only is Friday Night Lights coming back, it's coming back for two more seasons! This show has got to be one of my favorite shows of all time (up there with Veronica Mars), so you wouldn't understand how happy I am right now. This past season was stellar from beginning to end and was on par with the amazing first season. I'm hearing that my babe Adrianne Palicki (Tyra) will not be a "regular" next season, which will be a total bummer if true.

Anyhow, check out some 30 second promos real quick:

Taylor Kitsch is reason enough for you to start watching this excellent show.

Now if only Dollhouse and Reaper could follow the same fate. I guess that'd be asking for too much.

2009 Golden Globe Winners

2009 was a good year in film. This year had more good films than I can remember. Let's see... The Dark Knight, fucking superb. Revolutionary Road, phenomenal. The Curios Case Of Benjamin Button, intriguing. Pineapple Express, ridiculous funny. Milk, movie of the year (imo). Anyhow, I'm not really big on the Golden Globes but considering some of my favorites own, I felt obligated to write a little something.

First things first, I'm so glad Anna Paquin won for her role in True Blood. The show's slowly becoming one of the most intriguing dramas on TV. I'm shocked she won. Congrats to her!

I personally would have given the award to Dexter, but I'm biased. That being said, the second season of Mad Men was amazing. I guess it was about time the award shows started recognizing this show.

I <3 Kate Winslet. Not only did she win for Best Actress for her role in Revolutionary Road, which was phenomenal, she also won Best Supporting Actress for The Reader (which I have yet to see). Just, wow. Check out one of her amazing acceptance speeches below:

And last but not least... congratulations to Heath Ledger (R.I.P.) for his Best Supporting Actor win for The Dark Knight. Hopefully he can win at the Oscars as well.

"Damages" Season 2 Premieres This Week

Not too long ago, I blogged about Damages and how it's one of the best TV shows on air. Well, the second season is set to premiere this Wednesday (January 7th, 10PM Est. FX) and I'm begging you all to watch it.

Captivating. Complex. Mindblowing. Simply put, amazing.

If you don't like this show then there's something wrong with you.

They never disappoint, that's for sure. I can't wait till this airs. Can't Megan sue her ass for hitting her? Hm.

"Undressed" Coming To DVD

From TVShowsOnDVD.com

A week and a half ago we reported that a notice posted at the UndressedTV.com website had stated that "All six seasons of Undressed will be available on DVDs in the not-so-distant future." Soon afterward we began getting e-mails from a few fans, expressing concern whether the website was affiliated with MTV, which aired the series, or whether any DVDs sold via the site would be "official" or not. We directly asked the folks at UndressedTV about this, and in response we were given quite a bit of new information.

Regarding the rights and the sources for this release, we were informed that "The content of the DVDs comes directly from the digital tapes that were used to broadcast the show. It's as good a quality as can be had (without re-mastering). The DVDs are authorized by the right holders and MTV, but MTV is not expected to be involved in neither the distribution nor marketing."

Furthermore, we're told that the first release is planned to be ready to go in approximately 6 weeks. This official DVD will include Seasons 1 and 2 together. They will "be available only for online ordering and worldwide shipping."

Seasons 3 through 6 will be released, independently, over the course of the next one-to-two years. The success level of the Undressed - Seasons 1 and 2 DVD release will determine whether the program can be distributed via "offline" (i.e., in-store)methods.

We've even been told this surprising little tidbit: "Depending on the success of the DVD(s), there might even be a season 7 produced of the show for Television." Doesn't THAT whet your appetite?

Our thanks to the folks at UndressedTV.com, and to the people putting the DVD together, for sending this additional information our way. If you haven't done so yet, head over to the DVD page at UndressedTV and sign up to show your interest in these releases. And stay tuned, because we'll continue to update you further as more information comes along! [x]

I used to love this show. I'll definitely be copping this once it's released.
