Former Miss Brazil Says Miss Universe Was Rigged

Former Miss Brazil Adalgisa Colombo has said that this year's Miss Universe pageant, which was won by Miss Venezuela Stefania Fernandez, was "rigged" in favour of Venezuela that has taken the last two titles.

"It was rigged. The contest was very dumb, very commercial, with the special interests of (pageant co-owner) Donald Trump, who must have interests in Venezuela," Colombo told the O Globo newspaper's online edition.

Colombo, who was Miss Brazil 1958, said her country's representative this year, Larissa Costa, was one of the favourites and should have been one of the 10 semifinalists, but she did not even make the final 15.

The former beauty queen said her favourite contestant in this year's pageant was Miss Dominican Republic Ada Aimee de la Cruz, who made it to the final three.

The Miss Universe contest ended Aug 23 in Nassau, Bahamas. [x]

Pretty much what I (and everyone else) have been saying from the start. Oh well, nothing can be done about it at this point. It is what it is. I leave you with a picture of the gorgeous Aida Aimee De La Cruz, who should've been crowned Miss Universe. Fucking bastards.

Nick Young Covers "Attitude" Magazine

Aussie sportstar Nick Youngquest is on the cover of next month's issue of Attitude magazine.

BONUS

First Runner Up...

She lost. I can't believe she lost. We were so fucking close, but hey, what can you do? And though I thought Miss Venuela was pretty, she was nowhere near the prettiest, her answer to the question she was asked was horrible, she had probably the lowest scores of the remaining 10 girls and yet she still managed to win. Rigged? Probably.

Top 5 Finalists Q&A

Coronation

I swear to you, I had a flashback to 2003 when Amelia Vega won. I was like, we so got this!

Oh well, maybe next time. One thing is for sure, us Dominicans are extremely proud of Ada Aimee and I know I'm honored to have her representing our beautiful Quisqueya. She's definitely among the most beautiful Miss Dominican Republic contestants I have ever seen. Pa' la proxima. <3

Zoe Saldana's New "Vaniaty Affair" Shoot

As she proved in this summer’s Star Trek, Zoë Saldana shines when she’s surrounded by guys. Happily, the 31-year-old actress has another high-testosterone sci-fi epic in the works: James Cameron’s hotly anticipated special-effects bonanza Avatar, set in the 22nd century. [x]

PHOTOGRAPHY BY MICHAEL ROBERTS

I love Zoe Saldana. I think she's a great actress with a lot of potential. A lot of Dominicans aren't fond of her due to some comments she made about her nationality. "Whenever she goes to the Dominican Republic, the press asks her if she's American or Dominican. She says she is a mujer 'negra', a black woman. When they tell her, 'No, you're a trigueñita (light brown),' she answers, 'No, I am a black woman.'" Unlike the few other Dominican actresses/singers (Michelle Rodriguez, Judy Reyes, Kat DeLuna, Karina Pasian) who pride themselves as Dominicans, many Dominicans were offended by Zoe's comments & felt that she claims her nationality whenever it is convenient.

I personally don't care about all this shit. I'm Dominican (and extremely proud of it) & whether someone else identifies as a Dominican or black or white or whatever, is not making me lose any sleep. I love me some Zoe and I definitely think there's some Oscar possibilities in the near future for her. That being said, to play devil's advocate a little bit, if I were ever to become famous (yea right), I would never forget where I'm from or use my "blackness" or "Dominicaness" at my convenience. =]

Lady Gaga Goes All "OUT"

Excerpt from OUT magazine:
A life of glamour is an ethos to which every gay — from the 17-year-old Dominican tranny voguing in his bedroom to the tanorexic middle-aged Miami circuit queen — can relate. It’s one reason we love Gaga. Another, of course, is that Gaga loves us back. Gayness is in Gaga’s DNA. A little brunette lighting bolt of energy born in Manhattan to Joseph and Cynthia Germanotta — Catholics with a healthy appreciation for the arts and the good sense to recognize a star when they bore one — Gaga began playing piano at 4 and composing at 13 under the tutelage of several gay mentors. “I had a few gay piano teachers. I was in acting class and ballet from a very young age, and I remember being around a lot of gay boys in dance class. I feel intrinsically inclined toward a more gay lifestyle.” She did Ellen before Leno, performed in gay clubs before straight ones, and plugs the gays constantly in interviews, even those with straight publications. Despite a lesbian subtext to “Poker Face” — the song is about, among other things, a woman lusting after a woman while dating a man — Gaga says, “I myself am not a gay woman — I am a free-spirited woman: I have had boyfriends, and I have hooked up with women, but it’s never been like ‘I discovered gayness when I was dot dot dot.’ ”

Her devotion to gay culture is unparalleled by any other artist operating at her level of visibility or success. “When I started in the mainstream it was the gays that lifted me up,” she says. “I committed myself to them and they committed themselves to me, and because of the gay community I’m where I am today.” Earlier this year, in her acceptance speech for her MuchMusic award for best international video, Lady Gaga thanked “God and the gays.” Before agreeing to tour with Kanye West this fall, Gaga told the rapper, “I just want to be clear before we decide to do this together: I’m gay. My music is gay. My show is gay. And I love that it’s gay. And I love my gay fans and they’re all going to be coming to our show. And it’s going to remain gay.” That’s another clause in the Gagaland constitution: Gay culture shall gush undiluted into the rapids of society. It shall not be co-opted, fancified, dolled up, or Uncle Tommed. “I very much want to inject gay culture into the mainstream,” she says, “It’s not an underground tool for me. It’s my whole life. So I always sort of joke the real motivation is to just turn the world gay.” [x]

Amazing. the shoot is fucking great. Man, this woman is on fire! I have a feeling she's going to go really far. And I mean, FAR.

Lady Gaga Has An Attitude Problem...

I <3 the woman & her music to death. I think she's a breath of fresh air, though she's not as original as folks claim her to be. That being said, I can't help but be put off by the stank ass attitude she has in EVERY single interview. Girl, just shut the fuck up for one minute, por favor. Not every interviewer is out to get you. Shit.

I do like how she answered that last question though. Kudos.
