Next Week On The Season Finale Of "Reaper"

"Cash Out"
Airs 12/4/07

An escaped soul who was a bank robber returns for his loot, and Sam, Sock and Ben must send him back. Meanwhile, Sam secretly begins dating Cady (Jessica Stroup), although he's still suspicious of her parentage.

Well, it's not the season finale, but it's the last new episode we'll be getting this year. The show will be going on hiatus for a couple of months while One Tree Hill will air on Reaper's current time slot. Reaper has not been canceled so it will be coming back, we just don't know when. :-/ So make sure you tune in to next week's "season finale."

Check out this exclusive sneak peek at next week's episode.

Rihanna's New Singles "Don't Stop The Music" & "Breakin Dishes"

This song was already released overseas months ago and was a pretty big hit. I would've preferred Breakin Dishes over this, simply because Don't Stop The Music has been played to death already, especially in the clubs. Nonetheless, this should be another smash for the lil Rnb diva.

Don't Stop The Music
[Download]

I'm not a big fan of Rihanna but this song right here is hot. This should have been the second single, instead of that corny ass Shut Up & Drive shit. According to Mediabase, Don't Stop The Music is officially the 4th single off of Rihanna's Good Girl Gone Bad album, but the song Breakin' Dishes is already making big moves on the charts. I'm pretty sure it's going to be a single at some point.

Fox Scares Up J.J. Abrams' 'Fringe'

Two-hour pilot budgeted at over $10 million

Nearly 15 years after "The X-Files" launched, Fox is looking to scare a new generation of viewers with "Fringe," a spooky skein from the minds of J.J. Abrams, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci.

Net has made a series commitment to the Warner Bros.-Bad Robot production, which will start off with a two-hour pilot budgeted at more than $10 million. Abrams, Kurtzman and Orci -- the brain trust behind Par's new "Star Trek" feature -- wrote the project on spec and shopped it to nets this week.

Trio will exec produce "Fringe" along with Bryan Burk ("Lost"). A search has begun for a pilot helmer as well as a series showrunner.

"Fringe" mixes elements of "The X-Files" and Paddy Chayefsky's "Altered States" with what Abrams calls "a slight 'Twilight Zone' vibe." It will focus on brilliant but possibly crazy research scientist Walter Bishop, his estranged son and a female FBI agent who brings them together.

Episodes will explore self-contained mysteries of the paranormal, as well as the relationships between the three leads.

"So much of the story is relatable people in extraordinary situations," Abrams said. "The show is definitely a nod to 'Altered States' and 'Scanners' and that whole Michael Crichton/Robin Cook world of medicine and science."

There'll also be an overriding mythology that will come into play from time to time, as well as a healthy dose of humor.

"It does the stuff my favorite TV shows and movies do, which is to combine genres that shouldn't fit together," Abrams said. "It's definitely meant to scare the hell out of you, but it's also meant to make you laugh... It pushes all the buttons of things we loved from our childhood."

Driving the show will be the Walter Bishop character, a larger-than-life figure who bears some resemblance to the titular character in Fox's "House." In the pilot, he's in a mental hospital.

"Imagine that your father is Frankenstein mixed with Albert Einstein," Orci said. "He's someone who has the mental ability to solve so many problems but is so different that communicating with them is almost impossible."

Greenlight for "Fringe" means there are now three projects at three different nets centering on characters exploring freaky mysteries a la "The X-Files."

CBS has given a series order to the Warners- and Jerry Bruckheimer-produced "11th Hour," which is based on a Brit format (Daily Variety, Sept. 19). And ABC has ordered six episodes of the Zak Penn-produced "Section 8," which involves a team of investigators with mental abnormalities (Daily Variety, Sept. 27).

Reilly said he believes the Eye and Alphabet shows are a bit more science-oriented, while "Fringe" delves a bit more into sci-fi.

"May the best show win," he said.

"Fringe" marks the first series commitment for Abrams since he signed his mega-deal with Warners last year. It also comes in the wake of news earlier this week that Abrams had set up a drama pilot, dubbed "Boundaries," at ABC with scribe Jill Soloway (Daily Variety, Oct. 4).

Abrams has turned in a pilot for HBO but is still talking to the cabler about the fate of the project. Kurtzman and Orci, who worked with Abrams on "Alias," are now readying a sequel to their summer smash "Transformers."[x]

FOX is definitely stepping their game up. They have Joss Whedon's ("Buffy The Vampire Slayer) new series Dollhouse which stars Eliza Dusku and now this X-Files inspired series by J. J Abrams. Let's see if they live up to the hype.

'Cloverfield' Trailer

Shit looks crazy. Kind of reminds me of The Day After Tomorrow mixed with bit of The Blair Witch Project. Directed by J.J Abrams ("Felicity", "Lost"). Film hits theaters on 1/18/08.

Britney Spears Shoots 'Piece Of Me' Video

Video has singer, dancers dodging media by wearing identical wigs and trench coats; singer was reportedly 12 hours late for shoot.

Britney Spears filmed the video for "Piece of Me," the second single from her Blackout album, at the Los Angeles restaurant and nightclub Social Hollywood on Tuesday, according to People.com. The video is being directed by Wayne Isham, who also helmed the singer's "I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman" clip.

Fittingly, the clip, which finds Spears and her dancers wearing identical blond bob wigs and black trench coats, has a paparazzi theme. "The paparazzi are following [Britney], so they're dressed alike to trick them," a source told People. "They all go into a club to get away. One [photographer] sneaks in, but Britney, in the end, discovers him."

The subject matter certainly reflects events in Spears' life in recent months, as she is trailed by paparazzi nearly everywhere she goes and has had several driving-related incidents involving them.

UsMagazine.com reported that Spears was more than 12 hours late for the shoot, arriving at around 8:35 p.m. The session wrapped at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday (November 28), Spears' label confirmed to MTV News.

People also said that Spears spent time with her sons Preston and Jayden James on Tuesday before heading to the shoot. A custody hearing took place on Monday, which neither Spears nor ex-husband Kevin Federline attended. [x]

Pitbull Releases New Video Feat. Trina & New Single Feat. Lil Jon

This is the new single off of his new album The Boatlift which was released yesterday. I'm mad he used the Calabria sample which was played to death this past summer. It'll probably be a hit though. Artists are getting into the annoying habit of "remaking" songs that were released within the same year. Ashanti's new single is an exact copy of Diddy's Last Night. So much for creativity.

Go Girl, the first single, is the one currently flooding up the airwaves. The video just premiered last week. Check it out.

DJ Star May Return To Radio On WNYZ

Star was fired in 2006 by WWPR.

Star, the morning deejay who was not only fired from his last gig, but arrested, may be returning to New York radio early next year on a new top-40 station.

A press conference has been scheduled for tomorrow morning to confirm his hiring, and while the announcement doesn't specify details, the station reportedly is WNYZ, which broadcasts on 87.7 FM on Long Island.

WNYZ is licensed as a low-power television station (Ch. 6), but it is currently only broadcasting audio, not video, on the 87.7 FM frequency.

Its current format is Russian popular music, huh.gif but with the hiring of Star, it will reportedly switch to top-40.

Current plans apparently call for the format to start early next year, with video and streaming.

No one was available for comment yesterday, but Star had previously said he wanted a gig where he could bring back his whole team of Buc Wild, White Trash Helene, Miguel Candelaria and Chris the Queer.

Star was fired from WWPR (105.1 FM) in May 2006 after on-air remarks about what he would do to the young child of rival DJ Envy on WQHT (97.1 FM).

He was then arrested and served three days of community service.

Star maintained that no one could have taken his comments as a serious threat and sued Clear Channel, owner of WWPR, claiming the company hired
him in part to make incendiary comments and then tried to distance itself when he got in trouble.

That suit is in the courts, with a ruling expected next on Clear Channel's motion to dismiss. [x]

A hip-hop disc jockey who was fired for making threatening racial and sexual remarks about a rival's wife and 4-year-old daughter will return to the airwaves, a public relations firm said Monday.

DJ Star, whose real name is Troi Torain, and his half-brother, Timothy Joseph, or Buc Wild, will host a morning show on a city FM station, said Bryan Pierce of 5W Public Relations. The name of the station, which was being represented by 5W, will not be disclosed before a news conference Wednesday, Pierce said.

In May 2006, Torain, who was co-host of the syndicated "Star & Buc Wild Morning Show" on Clear Channel Radio's Power 105.1 FM, offered $500 to any listener who could provide information about the rival DJ's daughter's school and used racial slurs when talking about his wife, who is part Asian. He said he wanted to sexually abuse the daughter and urinate on her.

A telephone message left for Torain's lawyer, James P. Cinque, was not immediately returned Monday. There was no listed phone number for Torain's Pennsylvania home.

A spokeswoman for Clear Channel Radio said Monday that Torain would not return to any of its stations.

Torain, who is in his early 40s, was briefly charged with child endangerment after his sex-laced rants about rival DJ Raashaun Casey's family. Prosecutors later dropped the child endangerment charge, saying they wanted to spare Casey's daughter further attention.

Torain's morning show had aired in markets including Philadelphia, Miami and Richmond, Va. [x]

I can't stand Star's ignorant ass, especially after the comments he said on air about DJ Envy's daughter. I mean, how fucking psycho can you be? I'm surprised that they're even allowing this man back on the radio, let alone give him his own show. Shit, seems you can get away with pretty much anything nowadays.

Nonetheless, people will tune in and he'll have another smash show. That's just the way it is.

Ashanti Preps New Video

Brick D Vice (Ashanti's Choreographer, "Only U", "Breakup 2 Make Up") posted a video on the internet as Ashanti's backup dancers (that will also be in the video) rehearsed the dance routines for Ashanti's new video Hey Baby (After The Club). The outfits they are wearing are also going to be the outfit look for the dance scene in the video. Due to issues with The Inc, the 1st video shoot was cancelled at the last mintue. It is now set to be shot at the beginning of December, and the song will be re-added to formats December 10, 2007.

This is the rumored choreography for the video.

Ashanti has been missing from the music scene for a while but she's been busy working on movies. Her last film, Resident Evil: Resurrection was a success and word is that she's working with Quentin Tarantino on the upcoming film Get Christie Love. She's also starring in Michael Pinckney's new film You're Nobody Till Someone Kills You.

Meanwhile, Matt uses his mental abilities to track down the last person in the company photo. In addition, Nathan learns his brother is alive. It sucks that because of the writer's strike, there are only two episodes left. Last night's episode was simply one of the best ever and next week's episode looks like it's going to take things to a whole another level.

I personally want Mohinder shot dead but whether that's actually going to happen nobody knows. One can only hope.

All 10 albums sold more than 100k, and that’s the first time that’s occurred since, well, last year at this time.

Double-digit gainers include American Gramaphone’s Fontana-distribbed Mannheim Steamroller (#25-17, +83%), Disney’s Hannah Montana 2 (#19-15, +54%), Decca’s Andrea Bocelli (#19, +37%), Disney’s High School Musical 2 (#13, +30%) and 1 (#44, +29%), Atlantic’s Matchbox Twenty (#41, +25%), Disney’s Hannah Montana (#47, +21%), Universal Republic’s Colbie Caillat (#20, +15%), Geffen’s Keyshia Cole (#26, +11%) and RCA/RMG’s triple AMA winner Daughtry (#48, +10%).

Hitting stores today and the charts next week with Black Friday in their sights are Jive/ZLG’s Idol winner Jordin Sparks, Capitol’s Keith Urban, Interscope’s OneRepublic, Roc-A-Fella/IDJ’s Freeway and Universal Republic’s release of the first Amy Winehouse album. [x]

Wow. This woman is a beast. She topped the first week sales of her last two albums. With the holidays right around the corner I expect nothing but massive sales for Ms. Keys. Congrats.

Beyonce Goes Bluegrass At Music Awards

Beyonce went bluegrass in a surprise performance with country band Sugarland at the American Music Awards on Sunday night.

Even Ne-Yo was impressed.

"The bluegrass version," the R&B star said backstage while watching a monitor of Beyonce's performance of her hit "Irreplaceable" with Sugarland. "It ain't bad."

Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles said the idea was hatched by the country duo's publicist because they perform the song in their act.

"A good thing about a good song is it can be played in any genre," she said. "I'm up for anything. I love it."

Nettles said backstage that she was nervous going note-for-note with Beyonce.

"We were face to face, and there were a couple times when she was looking at me and I was blushing because I thought I was going to turn to stone in her beauty," Nettles said. "She is so talented and so grounded."

Nettles' musical partner Kristian Bush was witness to it all.

"I was the luckiest man," he said. [x]

Beyonce was also presented with the International Award (Legend Award) becoming the first African American female to win the award. You can check out her acceptance speech here.

Kanye West Breaks Down During Concert In Paris

Just a week after the death of his mother, Donda, Kanye West launched a European tour in Paris on Saturday, but broke down after performing for an hour, according to People.com.

Toward the end of the hour-long show at Le Zenith, as "Hey Mama" began, West attempted to introduce the song, saying, "This song is for my mother ... " but could not continue, the magazine reported.

"He said the word, 'Mother,' and just couldn't go any further," Le Parisien journalist Meddy Magloire told the magazine. "A back-up singer, the DJ and a guitar player came over to console him. It looked like he might collapse. He just couldn't continue. He just stood there in a spotlight, crying, while the band continued playing." The song, from 2005's Late Registration, is a dedication to Donda.

After a few moments of stunned silence, Magloire said, the audience offered shouts of encouragement, which grew into applause.

West reportedly restarted the song but was unable to finish. He left the stage, returning after 10-15 minutes to conclude the concert with "Stronger," the magazine reported.

"He was very nervous, seemed to have gathered himself up, and had a lot of energy," Magloire told People. "He kept shouting out to the audience, 'I need you ... I need you right now.' and the public was screaming back. It was magic."

50 Cent: "If Britney Spears Can Use The B-Word, Why Can't I?"

Obviously there's been so much controversy surrounding the N-word lately, but when it comes to the B-word, 50 Cent senses something of a double standard. The leader of the G-Unit, while on tour in London, quipped with a grin recently that nobody said anything about Britney Spears saying, "It's Britney, bi*ch," on the beginning of her first Blackout single, "Gimme More." Let a rapper try to say that at the beginning of his song, chances are he might get censored.

"I guess they have their rules that apply individually to each artist separately: 'Oh no, he can't say that, 'cause he feels like that about that person,' " he said. "But it's not a rule that applies to everybody else. Matter of fact, my next single, I'm going to start it [with], 'It's Britney, bi*ch!' "

50 just dropped his newest video, for "I Still Will." Don't think he's too excited about having to change the title for broadcast purposes.

"The real title is 'I'll Still Kill,' " he said defiantly, pointing out the name of the track as it appears on his Curtis LP.

"It's [renamed] 'I Still Will' for MTV," he added. "It's amazing because right after that [video plays], they'll have a group on TV called the Killers. There's always more pressure on hip-hop music. It's the stepchild of entertainment. ... In fact, my new project with Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Donnie Wahlberg will be out April 12th called 'Righteous Kill.' Nobody has a problem with that, but 'I'll Still Kill' is the wrong title for a song. It's easier to fight one CD, one artist at a time — that's really what they're doing."

50 has been on tour overseas for about 25 dates and is only halfway done.

"The tour is great," he said. "I'm really enjoying myself. I've had to make some minor changes because I've been using a live band in parts, so it's a really different show [from] anything I've done before. I wanted to make sure it was a different show to what everyone has seen in the past. There's a lot more showmanship this time. I feel good about it. But as I change territories, I change the songs." [x]

Do you think it's the same when Britney says the word "Bitch" in her songs as appose to 50 Cent saying it? Is it really a double standard or is the word being used in a different context when Britney says it?

Fiasco Goes High Concept On Sophomore Album

Rapper Lupe Fiasco embodies multiple characters and concepts on his sophomore album, "Lupe Fiasco's The Cool," due Dec. 18 via 1st and 15th/Atlantic.

Among the characters are Michael Young History, the Game (described as "a male personification of a hustler's damaging influences") and the Streets ("a female embodiment of an urban area's corrupt allure").

Throughout, dark production by Soundtrakk, UNKLE and Chris and Drop enhances the weighty themes, particularly on "Street on Fire" (about a burgeoning epidemic) and "Put You on Game." Among the few guests are Snoop Dogg, who turns up on "High Definition," while Fall Out Boy's Patrick Stump serves as the producer of "Little Weapons."

A number of tracks diverge from the conceptual theme, including "Gold Watch" and "Paris Tokyo," on which Fiasco longs for a simpler life atop a jazzy backing track with shades of A Tribe Called Quest. Perhaps the oddest song is "Gotta East," which is apparently written from the perspective of a cheeseburger and is rife with food/life metaphors.

Fiasco makes at least two allusions to quitting the music business after one more album, "L.U.P.N.," but he ends "The Cool" on an up-tempo note with "Go Baby Go." "Congratulations ladies, this one's for you," he says.

"The Cool" is the follow-up to last year's "Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor," which spawned the Grammy-nominated single "Kick, Push."

Here is the track list for "Lupe Fiasco's The Cool":

Iesha Poem
"Free Chilly"
"Go Go Gadget Flow"
"The Coolest"
"Superstar" featuring Mathew Santos
"Paris Tokyo"
"High Definition" featuring Snoop Dogg and Pooh Bear
"Little Weapon"
"Hip-Hop Saved My Life" featuring Nikki Jean
"Gold Watch"
"Street on Fire" featuring Mathew Santos
"Hello Goodbye"
"Gotta Eat"
"Dumb It Down" featuring Gemini and Graham Burris
"The Die" featuring Gemini
"Put You on Game"
"Fighters" featuring Mathew Santos
"Go Baby Go" [x]

I'm feeling Superstar like crazy. And Dumb It Down is a sick track. I had to listen to that shit a couple of times before I even knew what he was talking about. I don't know... I think he might be able to top his critically acclaimed debut with this one.

Kat DeLuna Looks To "Whine Up" On Top

Singer Kat DeLuna, who tore up the airwaves this summer with Elephant Man on her "Whine Up" debut single, is out to prove that she's more than a one-hit wonder.

"It's a very international-leaning album," DeLuna says of 9 Lives, which came out in August. "I was born in the Bronx, raised over there in the Dominican Republic, then came back to the States, so everywhere I went I picked up a different style. And I also studied opera in New Jersey, so all those sounds I put in my album and made a fusion."

DeLuna was surprised at how large an impression "Whine Up" made following its release.

"I knew the song was going to pop off, but little did I know it was going to have such a big impact. And because it has a dance to it, the 'Whine Up' is a dance step, so that made it pop off even more. So it's been a blessing. Not only 'Whine Up,' but also the album itself. People have been looking out for it."

DeLuna says that she's had to learn how to cope with all the attention that's come with her seemingly overnight fame.

"At first it was so crazy, I couldn't believe it. I was unsure about even looking at myself on TV. I would be like, 'Ah, turn it off.' But now it's fun. I like it. You can see yourself and see your mistakes and learn from it.

"Most of the time, though, I don't really get to see all of it because I'm on the run every day and you don't get to see TV. But you know you were on TV. My mom records it for me."

Kat realizes that dealing with the media and living a country-to-county fast-paced lifestyle is just part of her job, and she's already getting used to it.

"It's something that I understand. I try to understand it. Like, I don't go crazy about it and I know it kind of comes with the territory and, for me to become like a bigger brand, I have to do a couple of things. And it's not only on the English side, I'm also promoting my album in Spanish because I have three songs that are in Spanish versions. So one day I could be in Puerto Rico and then another day I could be in Boston or Japan or here in Canada." [x]

I think Ms. DeLuna has a lot of potential. She has a great voice, a like-able personality and she's cute. I that her material is skews a little Disney Channelish but overall her album is a solid effort. I'm feeling her song Am I Dreaming, which was supposed to be her 2nd single but was apparently scrapped. Nonetheless, I think we'll be seeing more of this Dominicanita.

Alicia Keys On Track To Sell 550,000

J Diva’s As I Am Proving Strong Out of the Box, Celine Dion, Now 26 Trail

“No One” does it better than Alicia Keys.
The nine-time Grammy-winning songstress is at it again, with her eagerly anticipated third J/RMG album, As I Am, looking like it will easily top next week’s HITS sales chart, boasting a total that looks like it could hit 550k, according to those retailers not too shell-shocked to see records actually selling to take our call.

That would top the week’s other major diva release, Celine Dion’s Columbia bow, Taking Chances, which is looking like 250k and maybe more, with plenty of frontloaded TV for the Las Vegas star’s first new English language album since 2003’s One Heart.

That hits compilation perennial, Now 26, this time on EMI, follows with a debut of 200k, showing signs of wear from iTunes’ ability to cherry-pick the hits. [x]

Wow. Alicia Keys is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to sales. Looks like she has another smash on her hands.

"Like You'll Never See Me Again" Video by Alicia Keys

Bill O'Reilly, "We Don't Want To Normalize Homosexuality"

Bill O'Reilly took time during one of his recent shows to discuss the Illinois lesbian couple voted "cutest couple" at their high school.

O'Reilly believes the students at the school voted for the girls because the student body - as a whole - wanted to play a prank on the teachers and administrators of the school.

He said, "the kids voted...this couple the cutest couple to tweak the adults...to cause trouble, to make an issue of the yearbook."

Panelist Dr. Laura Berman - who teaches psychiatry at Northwestern University - responded:

"I don't think that this is necessarily completely about them (the students) trying to tweak the adults and trying to be provocative. I think this is about - and we've seen this in other high schools, as well, it's starting to become at least a small trend, if not a large one, that homosexuality is becoming, thankfully, more normalized, because this is the time in adolescence that kids are exploring their sexuality and in fact starting to identify what their sexual orientation is."

Media Matters published the entire transcript. Here's just a portion:

O'REILLY: ...we don't want to normalize homosexuality in a public way in an academic setting, high school, among minors. We don't think that reflects...

BERMAN: Why?

O'REILLY: ...how we feel about it. Well, for a number of reasons. One, social. It's much more difficult to be homosexual than a heterosexual in America. Two, religious. There are people who believe that that kind
of a life style...

In the clip below, O’Reilly talks about the national crisis of kids learning about sexuality. [x]

I can't stand Bill O'Reilly. I think he's an ignorant racist who gets a kick out of making controversial statements to further his career and improve his ratings. And it works. It definitely works. But his ignorant shit doesn't fly with me.

First of all, I'd like you all to take a couple of minutes to read the actual transcript here.

O'REILLY: Look, Doctor, there's no reason why Brandy and Lupe had to declare themselves anything other than friends. They didn't have
to do that. They chose to do that.

BERMAN: If they're in love -- but they have the same right to do that as any heterosexual couple does.

O'REILLY: It's not a matter -- it's a matter of appropriateness. That's what it's a matter of.

Appropriateness? What about equality? What about letting these two girls be? He clearly mentions in the interview that he would not have a problem if two straight folks would've been elected as "cutest couple," because "that's the norm." But since being gay is not "normal," he finds it inappropriate that the student body voted for two lesbians instead. He goes on to say that "homosexual behavior" should not be encouraged.

Gays should just hide and remain unheard of. Don't fight for your rights, don't take a stand in what you believe in and God forbid you show any pride in yourself because it makes others uncomfortable and because unfortunately gays are just not "normal." Get the fuck out of here with that shit. The number of contradictory statements Mr. O'Reilly makes in his little chat with Laura Berman only prove that he has no idea what's he's talking about. No idea whatsoever.

Residents Mad Over Beyonce Billboard

Pamela Keeney thought it was bad enough when a billboard went up near her Reno home and blocked mountain views. Now, she's really upset because the billboard features the bikini-clad image of singer Beyonce Knowles.

Keeney said when she looks out her front door or from her yard, the scantily clad Beyonce dominates the view. Clear Channel's billboard is for Reno radio station KWNZ.

"It's obscene," Keeney told the Reno Gazette-Journal. "I have my two little grand kids coming over here, and they don't need to be seeing that. You can change the channel on the TV, but you can't change that."

A Clear Channel representative did not return a phone call seeking comment.

Scott Seidenstricker, manager of KWNZ, said the photograph of Knowles is part of a series that also includes singers Gwen Stefani and Justin Timberlake.

"The billboards were taken from publicity shots and this is the way those people perform," Seidenstricker said. "So to show them in a jogging suit probably wouldn't be the right thing."

Other residents expressed more concern over how the billboard has blocked mountain views in the west Reno neighborhood.

"If you come out here it now dominates the skyline," Ward Ryan said. "It just screams of degradation, it screams of ghettoizing a good neighborhood."

Ryan, who has collected about 100 signatures on a petition protesting the billboard, said he was upset that Clear Channel installed it without notifying neighbors.

City officials said no one had to be notified because the billboard conforms with the property use.

"It complies with all the locational criteria that are set out in our code," city spokesman Chris Good said.

In 2000, Reno voters capped the number of billboards in the city at 278. The City Council later decided to allow billboard companies to move billboards around the city as long as the number stayed the same. [x]

Kanye West's Mother Died After Cosmetic Surgery

Donda West, the mother and manager of rapper Kanye West, died following cosmetic surgery it has been confirmed.

Patricia Green, Donda West's publicist told CNN West died following a "cosmetic procedure" in Los Angeles at the weekend. Green would not give details about the procedure or exactly what the cause of death was.

West helped manage her son's businesses and educational foundation after retiring in 2004 after 30 years as an English professor at Chicago State University. She died Saturday night at Centinela Freeman Hospital in seaside Marina del Rey.

The LA County Coroner's office said it would perform an autopsy on West later this week to determine the cause of death. The spokesman did not know what surgery West had.

"She was a universal model," Green said about West. "She made people want to be around her." Mother and son spoke frequently about their close relationship.

Kanye West flew home to Los Angeles from London on Sunday to be with family members.

Rapper Jay-Z paid tribute to Donda at a concert in New York on Sunday Night according to People, asking the crowd for a moment of silence.

"Let's get serious for a minute. This show is dedicated to Kanye West who had a death in the family. We got you, Kanye. Stay strong.[x]

Damn, that's some fucked up shit. My heart goes out to Kanye West and his family.

R.I.P Donda West.

So this is what Britney Spears really sounds like...

"This recording was taken from Britney's mic during her live HBO Special in 2001. I know she lip synched because of her insane dance routines, but it's hilarious to hear her singing live. Obviously they had her microphone turned down and they didn't hear any of this."

No comment. Thoughts?

Alicia Keys Talks "As I Am" & Beyonce

With her third studio album As I Am landing in stores next week, Alicia Keys is poised to regain her reign over R&B. In this SOHH Exclusive Keys opens up about the new album, talks of a possible collaboration with Beyoncé and her thoughts on America's troubling racial divide.

Keys' debut album Songs in A Minor won her five Grammy Awards, while her sophomore album Diary of Alicia Keys picked up another four, but despite her previous award-winning and multi-platinum selling successes, Alicia Keys is keeping cool, calm and collected about how her third studio album will fare.

"I don't feel any pressure at all," Keys told SOHH exclusively. "I think people just want things that make 'em feel something. So I know that when people hear this music they're gonna feel something, they're gonna be moved by it. They're going to feel more of that goodness -- so no pressure."

At 27, Keys is an accomplished actress, film producer, and musician who, despite her many achievements, continues to challenge herself to grow. With As I Am, Alicia says fans can expect to see a side of her that she hasn't revealed before.

"You can definitely expect the unexpected from this album," Keys admitted. "It's different. It has a new energy. It has a new feeling. It has like more of aggression to it. I've learned a lot this year and I've been through a lot. So I think that I've grown as a person. You definitely feel it. You hear it in the sound of it. You hear it in the passion in my voice. You hear it all the way around the board. So I know that you're gonna...It's exciting to be a little bit in a different place."

As I Am follows on the heels of Keys'recent big-screen appearances in Smokin' Aces and The Nanny Diaries, and while she is unparalleled in the music world, Keys says she's often compared to fellow actress Paula Patton (Idlewild, Déjà Vu).

"They said that we look like each other...that we look like sisters. We've gotten that a lot," Keys told SOHH.

Fortunately, Alicia is supportive of her competition. In addition to her easygoing attitude regarding Patton, Keys is also enthusiastic about the possibility of collaborating with another potential rival - Beyoncé.

"I think that would be real fun," she said. "I think that me and B would do something crazy together and be able to kinda stretch in a way that would be unexpected. So I dunno, maybe the next record or her next record. Ya know, whenever we have a second to go in a room and really zone out. I think it would be crazy."

In related news, fans can visit www.power1051fm.com to see Alicia Keys perform "Like You'll Never See Me Again." On November 13th the site will also feature Alicia's full Stripped performance including a cover of Force M.D.'s "Tender Love."

As I Am lands in stores on November 13. [x]

Beyonce and Alicia Keys? That should be an interesting collabo. Anyhow, I'm feeling As I Am and I predict more Grammys and #1 smashes for her with this album.

Sneak Peek Of Tonight's Episode Of "Moonlight"

Episode 7: Ringer

My original thoughts on Moonlight were that it sucked. It came across as a bootleg version of Angel. So I stopped watching. Now, everyone is watching the show and from what I hear the show has improved tremendously. That's probably due to the fact that the shows' original director/writer, Greenwalt ("Angel"), left the show. He worked on the first two episodes. His friend Chip Johannessen ("The X-Files" and "Surface") has since taken over and has given "Moonlight" new direction and life.

Although the first two episodes of "Moonlight" were not received well by the critics and the show has not lived up to predecessor "Close to Home," recent airings have shown more promise. While ABC's "Women's Murder Club" is registering more viewers comparatively on Fridays at 9 p.m., "Moonlight" is attracting more 18- to 49-year-olds, the most coveted demographic for advertisers.

New Beyonce Commercial For DirecTV

Jay-Z On Track To Sell 400,000-450,000

Chris Brown, Garth Brooks Trail in Battle for Next Week’s Chart

Jay-Z’s Roc-A-Fella/IDJ album American Gangster, his tribute to the Ridley Scott movie of the same name about legendary Harlem dope dealer Frank Lucas with an Oscar-worthy performance by Denzel Washington, looks like a pretty good shot to take the #1 spot on next week’s HITS Top 50.

According to retailers left around this great country of ours, he’s on track to sell between 400-450k. Judging how the Eagles do in their second week—and they will be performing on ABC’s nationally televised Country Music Awards tonight, so you never know—will determine next week’s #1.

Barry Weiss’ Team Jive continues its hot streak with the new Chris Brown album, Exclusive, with the smash single, “Kiss Kiss,” which appears headed for at the very least the Top Three and maybe even higher with between 300-350k.

The independently distributed Garth Brooks album Ultimate Hits on Scott Borchetta’s Pearl Records imprint looks like it will do between 200-250k, though the CMAs could boost that number significantly.

Rapper Cassidy’s B.A.R.S. The Barry Adrian Reese Story, his new Full Surface/Ruff Ryders/J album, is on target for 70-80k.

Suretone/Geffen’s Angels and Airwaves, the band headed by blink-182 guitarist/vocalist Tom DeLonge, is looking at 65-75k for its second album, I-Empire.

Thanks in large part to the Eagles, the market was up 11% vs last week, down 13% vs same week last year and now down 14.5% year-to-date. [x]

400,000? That's it? With all the promo and buzz surrounding the album I kind of expected more. I mean, his last album Kingdom Come sold over 680,000 copies in its first week.

What surprises me is how much Chris Brown is on track to sell. I've only see the Kiss, Kiss video once and his other song Wall to Wall flopped. And I really wasn't feeling any joints off his album when I heard it a couple of days ago. The kid sure does have fans.

Britney Spears Album Lands On #2 Spot

The Eagles' first new studio album in 28 years, "Long Road Out of Eden," takes a short route to No. 1 on The Billboard 200 after Billboard revised a significant chart policy today (Nov. 7).

In consultation with Nielsen SoundScan, Billboard will now allow exclusive album titles that are only available through one retailer to appear on The Billboard 200 and other charts, effective with this week's charts. Prior to this, proprietary titles were not eligible to appear on most Billboard charts.

Early SoundScan numbers have the Eagles taking the top perch on The Billboard 200 with 711,000 copies sold, with most sales moved by Wal-Mart and Sam's Club stores. For now, the only other U.S. outlets carrying "Eden" are walmart.com, where both physical copies and downloads are sold, and the Eagles' own Web site.

"Eden" became available at the mass-market chain Oct. 30. Aside from two compilations, this is the Eagles' first album since the mostly live "Hell Freezes Over," which led The Billboard 200 for two weeks in 1994.

Britney Spears' new Jive album, "Blackout," which would have been No. 1 had the Eagles' data not been reported, will open at No. 2 with first-week sales of 290,000 copies. [x]

Poor Britney. Girl can't catch a break. A #1 position was almost guaranteed last week. Who could've known Billboard would change a significant chart policy today? lmao Sometimes I think the girl just has bad luck.

The "Blackout" numbers, though, are severely down from Spears' last release. When "In the Zone" was released in 2003, it sold 609,000 copies in its first week.

Of course, downloading legal and otherwise has eaten into CD sales. So Spears' first week's showing is respectable, even though it's not fantastic by any means.

The embattled pop mom is having more trouble on the radio, which is not playing "Gimme More" much right now. Maybe programmers will be persuaded to spin a second single from "Blackout." We'll see.

"Blackout" remains the No. 1 downloaded album on iTunes and the fifth bestselling CD on Amazon.com. Spears could have a good second week as well, while she awaits the Nov. 13 release of Alicia Keys' anticipated blockbuster, "As I Am." At that point, "Blackout" will likely be over unless a new single captivates radio listeners. [x]

I predicted 400,000 copies. She sold 290,000. I guess folks don't really give a shit anymore about the Queen of Pop. I remember when a new Britney album meant chaos and record breaking first week sales. I'm beginning to wonder whether her time has passed.

I'm not going to front though, I like her album. The girl can't sing worth a damn but she managed to make a pretty damn good album. Unfortunately I think that it will all go to waste with no promotion, the wrong singles and more importantly; lack of support.

Christina Aguilera & P!nk Prep New Releases

Christina Aguilera will be releasing a DVD of her successful Back 2 Basics tour on November 27th. No track listing is available at this time.

P!nk is also getting ready release, or should I say re-release, a deluxe edition of her platinum album "I'm Not Dead." The album's track listing has yet to be confirmed. Rumor has it that the deluxe edition will include the videos for:

Stupid Girls
U + Ur Hand
Who Knew
Nobody Knows
Dear Mr. President (live)
Leave Me Alone (live)

The re-release is scheduled to hit stores on December 4th.

Alicia Keys Talks About New Video

Singer recently shot video for new single 'Like You'll Never See Me Again.'

A heart-wrenching song only deserves an appropriate video, right? Well, according to Alicia Keys, it does.

The piano-playing singer's next single is the weeping "Like You'll Never See Me Again," a touching tune of longing love mixed with the hopes for romantic last days should the feelings ever fade.

The track, produced by Keys and her musical partner, Kerry "Krucial" Brothers, is the second single from her forthcoming album As I Am, due November 13 on J Records. The first, "No One," currently sits at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Keys recently shot a video for "Again" and told MTV News about the concept behind the treatment.

"It's a beautiful song," she explained last week at a black-tie benefit for Keep a Child Alive, the nonprofit group with which she is affiliated. "It's amazing. It's about living every moment as if it's your last. Because if it's our last time to say, 'I love you,' then let it be that we didn't forget that.

"Oh boy," Keys added about the clip. "The video is heart-wrenching. If your heart doesn't feel me, then you are dead!"

As I Am is Keys' third solo album and the first since 2003's The Diary of Alicia Keys, which spawned the hits "You Don't Know My Name" and "If I Ain't Got You."

Since the release of Diary, Keys has said in interviews that, for the first time in her career, she's had to deal with more personal experiences between projects. But an excursion to Egypt, according to the singer, was one of the events that helped her deal with her tribulations and prompted her to begin work on As I Am, the name to which is a nod to her personal travels.

"The meaning of my album title is really about being yourself," Keys said. "About freedom, about liberation, about breaking the rules, about doing the unexpected, about being excited, and exciting and learning more. And just becoming a better person, because that's what I'm being. It means 'take me as I am.' " [x]

I listened to her album today and was pleasantly surprised. I'll be posting my review later this week. Can't wait to see the video for "Again."

Funny but so true.

Next Week on "Heroes"

When the clock turns back four months for all of the Heroes, Nathan pays a terrible cost for his heroic actions. While Peter survives his detonation over New York City, the Company “bags” him as a threat to the world, eventually leading to violent confrontation with Elle (Kristen Bell) and the Haitian (Jimmy Jean-Louis). D.L. (Leonard Roberts) makes the ultimate sacrifice for Niki (Ali Larter) and Micah (Noah Gray-Cabey). Maya (Dania Ramirez) horrifically manifests her dark powers for the first time, driving her and Alejandro (Shalim Ortiz) to America for help. A mysterious, yet familiar face is introduced.

This is the episode that's supposed to answer all of our questions. Unfortunately all of my questions have already been answered because I read the spoilers. I didn't really enjoy last night 's episode. And oh yea... Mohinder is an idiot. I can't wait till his ass gets the boot. And Nikki, at one point a favorite of mine, is so useless this season: I wouldn't mind seeing her go either.

Hopefully next week's episode is as good as their hyping it up to be. The strike has already shortened our season (Episode 11 is supposed to be the last episode of this season... if the strike doesn't end within the next couple of weeks) so I expect nothing but quality from the 3 or 4 episodes we have left.

Jay-Z Performing "Roc Boys" on Letterman

Album in stores tomorrow.

'Lost,' 'Moonlight' Among Possible Strike Casualties

Just ask the cast and crew of "Jericho" how much losing momentum could be a killer.

Last season, networks experimented with long mid-season breaks, similar to what SciFi Channel had been doing for years with shows like "Stargate SG-1" and "Stargate: Atlantis." Except it happened with disastrous results.

"Heroes" and "Lost" both suffered significant drops in their ratings when they returned after a lengthy mid-season hiatus, and "Jericho" went from being an early season standout to a late-season near-flop, to the point that CBS pulled the plug.

Other shows may be forced into a long hiatus between episodes, and it may mean bad things for fans who want to see shows that suddenly earned some momentum like "Moonlight" to see it continue.

And "Moonlight" could be a major casualty if the current Writers Guild of America strike goes on too long. The network has enough episodes of the show to stretch out until after November sweeps, but not many more after that. If the strike were to go on for several months, it would mean that CBS could opt simply to end the season after the first handful of episodes and maybe come back next fall with a full second season. That is, if directors don't go on strike in the spring, following their writing colleagues.

NBC already is making arrangements to prevent a long break in the middle of a season. "Heroes" already has struggled in the ratings department during its sophomore season. Another mid-season break could really see viewership plummet even more, so the network is deciding to end the second season after 11 episodes and allowing producers to pick up the third chapter in a third season next year -- that is if ratings through those 11 episodes are strong enough to warrant a renewal, and if the strike goes on longer than just a few weeks.

No contingency plans have been announced for "Bionic Woman," however. The show has been steadily declining in ratings, and there is not enough vested interest in the show for people to remember that it is still around if the network decided to bring back the remaining episodes of the first season after a prolonged break.

"Lost" fans may really lose out. ABC has committed to finalizing the show over the course of the next three years with abbreviated seasons, but even with that smaller workload, there is only a couple of episodes of the upcoming fourth season complete, TV Guide reports. It's possible that ABC could delay the premiere of that season until the writers strike ends, taking the same route that Fox appears to be traveling in the case of "24," which had just begun shooting after a long delay.

One show that may survive it all, despite a loss in momentum? The quirky "Pushing Daisies" on ABC. The show has such a strong "cute" factor, that it sticks in the minds of its audience, and should have little trouble maintaining its core viewership. [x]

This strike has the potential to end a lot of TV shows. A lot of people are now starting to realize how serious this strike is. Hopefully they come to an agreement soon.
