Ashanti, Andre 3000 and Janet Jackson Pay Tribute To Murdered Gay Teen

15-year old Lawrence King was shot and killed last month at his high school by a fellow student because he was gay. Brandon McInerney, 14, has been charged with murder and could face 50 years in prison if convicted.

Janet Jackson, Ashanti, Andree 3000 and T.R. Knight were among the many celebrities who took the time out to be a part of this serious public service announcement in effort to raise awareness about anti-gay hate crimes.

It feels so good to see celebrities actually taking a stand against something like this, when many just ignore the issue because it doesn't affect them. It's such a beautiful thing when people can come together so that their voices can be heard. It's damn shame that a 15 year old kid has lost his life simply because of who he is. Homophobia is no joke. People fear what they do not understand. They fear it enough to try and get rid of it. They fear it enough that young kids are victims are hate crimes and murder because of the fact that they're gay. Unfortunately, this is the society we live in. It is up to us to take a stand and fight for what is right and fight against what is wrong.

Many of you might have seen Ellen DeGeneres getting really emotional on her show talking about this tragic story. If you haven't check it out:

I'm so with you Ellen, so with you.
