New HIV Awareness Campaign

The Gay Men's Health Crisis Organization has launched a new campaign in effort to raise awareness about young men of color who have sex with men.

"They speak to individuals and communities in a language of love, respect, acceptance and sexual health — highlighting what is possible in intimate relationships instead of focusing on problems with negotiating safer sex and getting tested for HIV."

The campaign, titled I Love My Boo, shows men of color "embracing, kissing, and expressing their love for each other in public spaces."

The campaign was launched in New York City earlier this month. Billboards have already been put up in all five boroughs.

Between 2005 and 2006, the overall HIV infection rate in NYC dropped 5%. Yet there was a 33% increase in men who have sex with men, ages 13-29.

Get tested. Wrap it up. Don't become a statistic.
