Introducing Diva Davanna

Damn, this nine year old girl is putting a lot of these so called professional models to shame! I've never seen a girl so young walk like that. Her name is Diva Davanna (I'm assuming that's her stage name) and she's getting a lot of buzz for her strong walk and appearances in local fashion shows.

P!nk Talks About "Mean"

Fuck it, I’m just gonna tell the truth. We can decide later if we wanna go there. One of the last trips that me and Carey took was me, Butch, and Carey, Nora, Butch’s wife, Steve Astafin and Jade Astafin … really good friends of ours. We’re like the six musketeers. We would always travel together. And it was one of our last trips and it was for Butch’s birthday to O-Hi. We all went and brought a guitar and had a picnic. And I took Butch over, I hadn’t started working on my record yet and I took butch over to the side, and you know, we’re all so close that we all knew that Carey and I were unraveling. Even Carey and I did. And it was okay. It was sad and weird and beautiful. We just knew it was one of our last trips as the ‘six.’ And I took Butch to the side, away from them a little bit, and I said ‘I wanna write a song called How Did We Get So Mean'? And we started writing right there at the picnic in front of everyone. And it was awkward and beautiful and amazing. And there’s still so much love at that picnic and so much honesty. Really good cheese and we started writing that song. And Butch was the first person I worked with after Carey and I decided to split. And I sat there and cried through the rest of the song with Butch. We worked through it and I sang it into a laptop crying … sad. And I think everyone can relate to that song because I really do think that everyone can relate. My dad cried when he listened to that song.

This song was probably my least favorite off Funhouse, the first time I heard it. The lyrics always touched me and I could definitely relate... but the melody just seemed uninspired to me. But after listening to it a couple more times, it's become one of the best songs on the album. It's so interesting to hear her talking about how this song came together. Her new album is so personal, if you guys haven't heard it yet make sure you give it a listen.

Britney Spears Covers "Rolling Stone" Magazine (December 08')

Glad to see Britney on the cover, but I'm just not feeling this picture. As a matter of fact, I haven't liked any of the promo pictures they've been using for her album either. I don't know what photographer(s) Britney Spears has been working with as of late, but they just ain't cutting. At least she got her body back.

Big difference, eh?

Ne-Yo "Mad" Video

Ne-Yo has been dropping consistently good singles. Add this song (and video) to the long list of Ne-Yo jams I like.

American Music Awards 08' Performances

Pink - Sober

Amazing performance. Her vocals are ridiculous. I love this song.

Beyonce - Single Ladies

All the newspapers and blogs are talking about this crazy, energetic performance. I don't think I can ever get tired of this song; it's turned into a phenomenon. A+ performance by Beyonce.

Leona Lewis - Better In Time

Pink & Sarah McLachlan - Angel

Rihanna - Rehab

As much as I love Rihanna's music and admire her beauty, I just can't get into her performances. The girl just can't perform to save her life. And though she seems to be improving in the vocal department, she always sounds a train wreck live. Ugh, come on Rihanna.

The Pussycat Dolls - When I Grow Up/I Hate This Part

Alicia Keys - Finally

Christina Aguilera - Medley

Beyonce On The Set Of "Diva" Video Shoot

Beyonce is currently shooting the video for her next single, Diva, which will be released alongside the Ryan Tedder produced ballad, Halo early next year. Check out these pictures from the video shoot. I'm assuming Jake Nava is the director. The video looks like it's going to be a futuristic-fashion influenced smash. This song is going to huge; mark my words.

Solange's "Tony" Video

I know it's Beyonce mania this week, with I Am... Sasha Fierce being in stores and all, but Solange just went ahead and released this gem of a video; I've been in love with this song since I copped her album back in August. The video is deep, which is really not surprising coming from Solange. Her album has been on heavy rotation in my crib and it's a definite contender for R&B album of the year. Unfortunately, with the exception of the Dance Charts, her singles have failed to capture the mainstream's interest. Hopefully this tune does a little something something for her. Love it.

Christina Aguilera On TRL's Final Episode

Damn, I can't believe it's been ten years since Christina hit the scene with her Genie In A Bottle. My favorite video from her had to be Dirrty & Beautiful. I haven't been to impressed with Christina Aguilera since her Stripped era... here's to hoping her next album puts her back on the map.

Rihanna's "Rehab" Video

Wow, this girl is drop dead gorgeous; she's grown into a beautiful, exotic young woman.

She's come a long way since her Pon De Replay days, hasn't she?

Anyhow, the video is fuck*ng hot. I love its simplicity; sexual yet simple. Justin Timberlake has this weird, scruffy sexy thing about him; he's not a hottie (imo) but there's something hot about him.

Their chemistry in this video is great. I just wish Rihanna would've given me a tad bit more emotion in this video, instead of just relying on her stunning looks. Nonetheless, another job well done by RiRi; this should go top ten in a few weeks... an amazing feat considering this is her EIGHTH single off her almost two year old album, Good Girl Gone Bad. Word on the street is that her record company is looking to release ONE more single off the album. Breakin' Dishes anyone?

Santo's "Funhouse" Review

P!nk
Funhouse

4.5/5

Hearbreak is a Motherf#%*er. That was the original title of Pink's 5th studio album, before retailers threatened not to sell her album because of its explicit title. Though the title was changed, the theme remains intact. Funhouse is a nearperfect album that showcases Pink's exquisite vocals and her niche for writing emotional, catchy, and heartwrenching tracks while still having 'fun' with her in-your-face, uptempo, pop/rock gems.

On the revelatory first single, the smash party track, "So What", Pink taunts & teases with infectious 'Na na na na na's' and sings "I guess I just lost my husband, I don't know where he went, So I'm gonna drink my money, I'm not gonna pay his rent," which is an obvious reference to her divorce to motorcross Carey Hart. The Max Martin (Britney Spears, Kelly Clarkson) produced track became her first solo #1 ever, making it the biggest hit of her career.

Though the album's name is "Funhouse," most of the tracks are dark, depressing and sometimes even a bit haunting, even on the uptempos, like "Bad Influence," a bouncy, dark, upbeat track about partying a lot with your friends or the title track in which she compares her deteriorating relationship to a funhouse filled with evil clowns.

Pink really soars on the tracks where she displays her vulnerability, like on the Danja produced second single, "Sober," which is a poignant song about vices and sobriety or the playful sounding plead to her boyfriend, "Please Don't Leave Me," which has Pink begging her boyfriend not to leave her, regardless of her faults. By far, the album's standout track is the beautiful, acoustic, power ballad, "I Don't Believe You," which features the best vocal performance of the entire album.

The album isn't without its faults. The generic and recycled sounding, "It's All Your Fault" seems like it was taken directly from Kelly Clarkson's pile of leftovers whereas "Mean," even with it's intriguing lyrics, leaves much to be desired melodically. Despite these minor missteps, Pink still manages to keep it moving and has managed to create one of the year's best pop albums and quite possibly, the best album of her career.

Might as well call it Beyonce Week, the girl is going to be EVERYWHERE over the next couple of days. Get the promo girl! Check out her AOL Sessions; each performance is top notch. I Am... Sasha Fierce is in stores tomorrow.

Yes, Another Beyonce Post

TRL Finale

SNL - If I Were A Boy

SNL - Single Ladies

SNL Skit

I have got to say, Beyonce the damn thing this weekend. All of her performances have been on point and her vocals are just insane. The promo is working; If I Were A Boy has jumped to the number one spot on iTunes (again) and Single Ladies is blowing up at radio. The album is out this Tuesday. I expect 500,000+ albums sold in it's first week.

The SNL skit was hilarious. Justin Timberlake is pure comedy.

Keyshia Cole "A Different Me" Album Cover

I love the album cover. She looks stunning, and that's not a word I usually use to describe Keyshia Cole. I'm not really feeling her new single, Playa Cardz Right, but then again I said the same thing about Let It Go and it turned into one of my favorite jams. The album is scheduled to be released on December 16.

Beyonce On Oprah

Interview

Performance

Wow, that performance was amazing. Her vocals are sickening. I have to say this is probably one of the best songs she's ever recorded. I love this woman. Great interview. =]

Folks, don't forget, I Am... Sasha Fierce is out this Tuesday!

Rihanna's "Rehab" Video Preview

This video looks like it's going to be hot. There's a lot of sexual chemistry going on between Rihanna & Mr. Timberlake. Rihanna keeps releasing them smashes; this is single #8 off her 2x platinum album, Good Girl Gone Bad.

Random P!nk Post

This is a video of Pink performing I Don't Believe You, one of the standout tracks off her new album. The audience is so (fucking) loud that you can barely hear her, but she takes care of that towards the end. =]

You have to check out her AOL sessions. She performs three songs off her new album and a couple of oldies. Watch it all here.

This is the cover of Pink's second single, Sober. The video will be released later this month. Listen to the song below. Thoughts on the new single?

I'll leave you with her excellent performance of So What from this year's EMAs.

If you haven't copped Funhouse yet, you MUST check it out. It's been on repeat ever since it came out last month. What are your thoughts on Pink's new album?

Another Beyonce Post

I'm sorry, I can't help it. I <3 the bitch.

First things first, Mrs. Carter performed If I Were A Boy & Single Ladies at the World Music Awards a couple of days ago. The performance wasn't bad; her vocals were on point and I'm extremely shocked at the fact that she didn't lip sync Single Ladies with all that insane dancing. That being said, that hair and outfit have got to go.

Beyonce was interviewed by ITN Entertainment and was asked some very interesting questions about Sarah Palin and fried chicken.

Beyonce is on the cover of a couple of magazines this month.

Bruce Weber shot BeyoncĂ© for the cover, and the songstress arrived at the shoot in an Obama state of mind, wearing an Obama T-shirt and with the president-elect’s surname manicured on her fingernails. “The issues are on their way to newsstands and is our own small way of commemorating the moment,” said Gan. Also in the issue is Steven Meisel’s take on a recent U.K. trend, “dogging,” in which young couples engage in explicit activities in parked cars and public parks. Meisel shot 28 pages and the model-filled images represent his first shoot for the magazine.

She's also on the cover of the premiere issue of The New York Observer Style magazine.

Last but not least, some new I Am... Sasha Fierce promo pictures have surfaced.

PHOTOGRAPHY BY PETER LINDBERGH

Beyonce's third LP, I Am...Sasha Fierce will be in stores on November 18th. After listening to the (full) album repeatedly, I can honestly say that this is her best album to date. Stay tuned for my review.
